A year ago today (2-11-11) Dr Parney did surgery on me to remove a brain tumor. I am doing well. Back to work full time and enjoying life. I am so thankful for Dr Parney’s knowledge and for modern medical technology. I now have 2 birthday’s to celebrate each year. Thank you Dr. Parney for giving me this new birthday. Janis Jaeger

What do you know about proton radiation therapy?

Dr. Parney replies “Proton beam is a new type of radiation therapy that is very highly focused, even more focused than Gamma Knife radiosurgery. I am not an expert in proton therapy, but protons are sometimes used to treat tumors in critical locations such as next to the brain stem or spinal cord to reduce risk of injury to those areas. It may also be used to provide treatments similar to standard radiation therapy but in shorter time periods.”
