    Hi Dr.Brewer,
My 23 year old daughter has had perioral dermatitis for about three weeks. She just started on Doxycycline a couple days ago. How long will it take to help improve this condition and is there anything else she can do to help it go away. She has been washing her face with just warm water and not using moisturizers, changed to toothpaste without fluoride….nothing seems to be helping. Any suggestions or advice? Thanks for your time.

It should start getting better within a week or so. Sometimes we will us a topical antibiotic in addition to the oral antibiotic, but other than that, not much else she can be doing. She should avoid topical steroid creams as those will make it worse.

Want to thank Dr. Brewer as he sure did a super job getting rid of Merles Cancer and the 1st follow up shows no signs of anything new head to toe.
Very pleaseant while mom was under the scalpal, and was very very educational towards me when i got the chances to see what was being done with mom during the surgery, as I love that stuff in person.
We will keep walking every other day Dr.
At Apache Mall 1/2 mile for moms better health.
She is 89 and looks to add on many more years thanks to you and all those great nurses and specialists of mayo Clinic Rochester, Mn
